The powerplant
I’m planning to use a Turnigy RotoMax electric motor equivalent to 100cc with a huge Fatboy speed controller.

Turnigy RotoMax 100cc Brushless outrunner motor. When combined with a 12s Lipoly battery, 27×12 Propeller and a 250Amp ESC the RotoMax motor will supply punchy, responsive power that only an electric setup can provide.
I’ve tested it with the recommended prop and 12s Lipoly, but was too scared to run it to full power! I got to 5000 revs before quitting. It’s a heavy setup – the motor is 2 kilos, the speed controller 0.8 and the batteries (810 x 4) 3.2 kilos! More testing to come before flying. (BTW, I bought just a bit too soon – the speed controller has been replaced with an updated one which is about half the weight!). Check out the test run here.
