Rivets, rivets everywhere

Painting on rivetsRivets painted before rubbing down

I’ve been spraying primer on the tail and adding some rivets. I’ve used the Mick Reeves tapes on the tail.

They are thin vinyl tapes cut with holes at the correct spacing.

The method is to stick the vinyl along the rivet line then fill the holes with primer. I used two coats. When dry, remove the tapes and you have rivets. It’s then possible to do a careful wet-and-dry rub without destroying the rivets.

The other method is to use the vinyl “dots” and stick them directly to the surface. To do that, you must put some sticky tape along the line and rub down hard, lift the tape with the dots and place it along the rivet line. Rub down hard again and it leaves the dots on the surface.
